The Romney Fire Company 1 was founded on April 4, 1928, to protect the town of Romney, West Virginia, and its surrounding area. The company purchased its first motorized fire engine on January 21, 1929.
Company 1 runs an average of 300 calls per year. The members are trained in various disciplines of fire and rescue. Structural Firefighting, Motor Vehicle Extrication, Rope Rescue, Swift Water Rescue, Hazardous Materials and Brush Fires. The current membership is comprised of 35 trained firefighters and 10 support members.
